Medea Creek Middle School wins stock market contest

Three students from Medea Creek Middle School and their teacher/advisor were the winners of SMG’s recent Southern California junior division stock market competition.

Sixth graders Eric Johnson and Ryan Schwartz and seventh grader Peter Markos along with advisor Tracy McKeown won the Fall 2000 competition.

The SMG Worldwide competition started each group with $100,000 in imaginary money in early October and ended in December. The Medea Creek group met once a week, researched, tracked and traded their stocks online, and won the competition with more than $115,000 in imaginary money during a very turbulent fall market period.

A spring competition begins late this month and Medea Creek will be participating again.
