Internet politics studied

Former State Assemblyman Keith Olberg has been appointed by Assembly Republican leader Bill Campbell (R-Orange) to serve on the new Bipartisan California Commission on Internet Political Practices––a 13-member commission established by Assembly Bill 2720 to investigate issues posed by campaign activity on the Internet.

The new commission is charged with investigating Internet campaign activity in relation to the goals of the Political Reform Act of 1974 which requires the disclosure of campaign contributions and expenditures. The commission will report its findings to the state legislature by Dec. 1, 2001.

Olberg holds a Ph.D. in constitutional law and political philosophy and is currently a candidate for California Secretary of State in the 2002 election.
