Different policy on vehicle insurance

I read the letter (in the Nov. 16 Acorn) from Jason Hammer of Oak Park with much interest regarding his auto insurance premium and the Oak Park ZIP Code of 91377.

Mr. Hammer noted that with his current company he was overpaying due to the fact that he resided in an area that they interpreted to be Los Angeles County because of ZIP Code 91301.

I’ve had my State Farm Insurance Agency in Agoura and Oak Park for 30 years. For rating purposes, since January 1973 we have considered both sides of the county line as Ventura.

Therefore my Agoura Hills clients have enjoyed a Ventura County rate as well as those in Oak Park.

We have always maintained this Ventura County classification for Agoura, Agoura Hills, Oak Park and the Los Angeles portion of Westlake Village.

We have also done the same on homeowners’ insurance. I hope that this clears up an important matter for our community on both sides of the county line.
