Feel healthier with fragrances

Why do people prefer one scent over another? Choices often reveal distinct elements about personality, temperament and character.

A preference for chocolate over vanilla can indicate hidden aspects of our makeup, as can an attraction to floral scents over citrus or woodsy notes.

"Aromachology" is the study of how aroma affects people emotionally. Recent studies supported by the Olfactory Research Fund propose a direct link between personality, scent preference and desired results.

According to National Geographic’s Website, "Fragrances can do more than just smell good. They can affect relaxation, sensuality, happiness and well-being."

Truck drivers traveling long distances and students cramming for exams often choose soft drinks, soaps and even air fresheners with scents like peppermint and lemon. They might not realize it, but these scents act as mental stimulants, helping people stay alert.

Physicians and lawyers often choose vanilla scents in their office, because of the calming effect.

Because the sense of smell relates to a feeling well, fragrance is now incorporated into many aspects of daily life from bathing to home décor.

For mood enhancement, try rose and jasmine scents.
