Candlelight service set for St. Max

St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Westlake Village will have a 5 p.m. candlelight labyrinth walk and prayer service on Sun., Dec. 17.

Parishioners, friends and visitors from throughout the community are invited to participate in an hour of peaceful reflection beginning with a gathering around the outdoor, mosaic-tile labyrinth for a candle lighting ceremony followed by an opportunity to walk the labyrinth. Participants will then enter the church for a service of prayer, readings and song.

The labyrinth at St. Maximilian is patterned after the 12th Century labyrinth inlaid in the floor of the cathedral of Notre Dame in Chartres, France. It’s an ancient design that may be seen as a symbol of the journey of life.

St. Maximilian Kolbe church is at 5801 Kanan Road, at the corner of Lindero Canyon Road, in Westlake Village. All are welcome to join in this Advent service.
