Chabad plans holiday community events
Among the numerous events Chabad of the Conejo will present to celebrate the Chanukah holiday are the following:

In the weeks leading up to Chanukah, Chabad representatives will conduct a hands-on workshop demonstrating how olive oil is made from raw olives. The miracle of Chanukah involved olive oil and is considered one of the central symbols of the holiday. These "Olive Press" demonstrations will be at local Jewish schools as well as senior homes.

Menorah Mobiles will travel the community offering Chanukah menorahs and candles as well as gifts for children, in support of the message of Chanukah, the triumph of "light over darkness."

Chabad will host "The Chanukah Wonderland" from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sun., Dec. 24 at Conejo Creek Park, adjacent the Thousand Oaks Library on Janss Road in Thousand Oaks.

The event, open free to the public, features a menorah-kindling festival at dusk. Daytime activities include music, rides, game booths, kosher food stands, a petting zoo, pony rides and a juggling act.

For further information on these and the many other activities Chabad has planned to commemorate the holiday, please call (818) 991-0991.
