Tips for last minute shoppers

Are you a last-minute shopper? You’re not alone. A recent survey found that half of all Americans wait until the last minute, finding themselves in a frenzy to find the perfect gift in record time.

Here are some gift-buying tips to fit today’s busy lifestyles:

Start a gift closet. The solution for overcoming shopping blues is to create a gift closet so you’ll always have gifts on hand. Whenever you see great gifts, pick them up and keep them in a central place.

Personalize it. The key to successful giving is personalizing what you buy. Anything can become a great gift, as long as you keep the recipient in mind.

Find your signature style. How you wrap a gift is just as important as what’s inside. A creatively wrapped gift is your calling card. Select something common to wrap all gifts––like always using yellow paper and a fresh flower.

Always remember a hostess gift. Never go to a party empty-handed. Wrap a bottle of wine in two beautiful vintage napkins and attach two exquisite wine glasses. The recipient will continue to toast your thoughtfulness long after the party is over.

Use thought and creativity. According to the survey, 90 percent of Americans believe the value of the present isn’t determined by its price.

Treat yourself. Don’t get "wrapped up" in only buying gifts for other people. Personal treats are a must to lift your spirits and brighten your day.

Have fun. Through gifts, we have a unique opportunity to show how we feel about the recipient. Keeping that in mind, you should also enjoy yourself. The best gifts are the ones that are fun for the giver, too.
