Donations sought

The Marines & Friends group of Simi Valley, led by founder Sgt. John Miranda, have begun their fundraising drive for the 12th annual MetroKids Christmas Extravaganza at Metropolitan State Hospital, Norwalk.

"Because of tight security and protective custody measures, our kids aren’t able to venture outside of their environment. Therefore, we Marines & Friends bring the best of the outside world to them. ‘‘This is in the form of donated Christmas gifts, all kinds and types of volunteered entertainment, and tons of love and caring by all those that are involved with our efforts and concerned with the well being of the MetroKids," said Miranda.

Although the event isn’t open to the public, Miranda’s group welcomes corporate, civic group and personal sponsorships and donations.
