Donor wheels out bicycles as gifts

CARGO LOADING––Expert bicycle recycler Mark Blum, seated, along with his son, Dave, watch as Air Force personnel from Pt. Mugu’s Air National Guard unit load 60 reconditioned bikes. The two-wheelers are headed for the Hopi and Navajo reservations in Arizona in time for Christmas. Gathering gifts for the two tribes near Winslow, Ariz. has been a local project for 10 years, spearheaded by area residents and four schools, but this is the first year that bicycles will be included in the National Guard delivery. Blum, an Agoura Hills resident, is known for his free bicycle program and will be credited for giving away more than 200 bicycles by year’s end.
