Westlake site of Santa Lucia Pageant

CROWN PRINCESS--Britanni Alexandria Erickson of Malibu will wear the crown at this year's Santa Lucia Pageant in Westlake Village, sponsored by the Vasa Order of America, an organization that heralds Scandinavian ancestry. The annual Santa Lucia Pageant will be celebrated at 5 p.m., Sun., Dec. 17 at the First Neighborhood Center in Bennett Park, 31830 Village Center Road, Westlake Village. The event commemorates the Swedish custom of children of each village, led by Santa Lucia, bringing light to each home on Dec. 13, the darkest day of the year.

A smorgasbord of Scandinavian foods, desserts and coffee will be served, and all new guests are welcome to join the festivities.

Fifth grader Brittani Alexandria Erickson, daughter of Natasha and Rick Erickson of Malibu, has been chosen by the Oak Leaf Lodge 685 of the Vasa Order of America to be the year 2000 Santa Lucia at the pageant. Among her interests is studying Swedish and attending Scandinavian cultural events.
