The Middlecrest miracle in "It looks like they sewed her head back on her neck," said Cinco Paul, owner of Daisy, the Bichon Frisee dog that suffered a near-death coyote attack on Sat., Dec. 2 in the Paul’s backyard in Agoura Hills. Paul and his wife, Amy, couldn’t be more thrilled. And as for their children, Christmas won’t be so gloomy with Daisy back at home. "She had a pretty miraculous recovery," said Cinco Paul. "But she has a lot of healing to do." A veterinarian at the Agoura-Westlake Animal Clinic was the caregiver for little Daisy. "He put four inches worth of stitches on her neck," said Paul. There were three chest wounds that had to be sewn up as well. Daisy was able to come back from the hospital last Friday, tallying up a five-day stay at the clinic. She’s due back next week to have her sutures removed. It’s unknown when Daisy will return to normal, but if all goes well with the clinic visit next week and no infections complicate her recovery, she should be prancing around in no time. When asked if Daisy would have her picture taken for The Acorn, Paul responded "It may be a little gruesome." Daisy was shaved to have her stitches applied and the damage is still quite graphic. Daisy might look a little gruesome now, but the Paul family is very thankful for the miracle performed on their dog, making this year’s Christmas season a magical one for them. Daisy was attacked during early evening in Morrison Ranch. ––Michael Picarella |
